Passengers on a journeyinvolving an ultimate destination or a stop in a countryother than the countryof origin are advised that the provisions of a treatyknown as the Warsaw Convention maybe applicable to the entire journey, including anyportion entirelywithin the countryof origin or destination. For such passengers on a journeyto, from, or with an agreed stopping place in the United States of America, the Convention and special contracts of carriage embodied in applicable tariffs provide that the liabilityof certain carriers, parties to such special contract, for death of or personal injuryto passengers is limited in most cases to proven damages not to exceed USD75,000.00 per passenger inclusive of legal fees and costs, exceptthat in case of a claim brought in a state where provision is made for a separate award of legal fees and costs, the limit shall be the sum of USD58,000.00, exclusive of legal fees and costs. For such passengers traveling bya carrier not a partyto such special contracts or on a journeynot to, from, or having an agreed stopping place in the United States of America, the liabilityof the carrier for death or personal injuryto passengers is limited in most cases to approximatelyUSD10,000.00 or USD20,000.00. The names of carriers parties to such special contracts are available atall ticket offices of such carriers and maybe examined upon request. Additional protection can usuallybe obtained bypurchasing insurance from a private Company.
